Following a change in Law 132/2018, those who apply for the Italian citizenship are required to have and to prove an adequate knowledge of the Italian language, no lower than B1.
The University for Foreigners of Siena has conceived a specific certification – CILS B1 for the citizenship – which meets the requirements defined by the Italian law and is designed to assess the competence for this sole purpose, therefore it is more limited than the standard B1.
